SAN FRANCISCO, June 11 (Xinhua) -- The board of Uber Technologies Inc., a company offering ride-hailing services, is reportedly considering putting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Travis Kalanick on temporary leave.

Sources told The New York Times and other media outlets that the board is meeting Sunday to discuss options pertaining to Kalanick, who co-founded the San Francisco-based technology company in 2009 and since has been on the driving seat to expand its operations worldwide.

However, he has been criticized for his management styles, especially for allowing Uber's corporate culture to harbor some abusive behaviors.

Acting on recommendations made by the law firm of former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, who was hired to review the company's internal policies, Uber fired 20 employees last week for being involved in sexual harassment cases.
