BEIJING, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- Mercedes-Benz (China) and twoChinese joint ventures will recall 351,218 vehicles idue todefective airbags, the quality supervisor said.
The car makers have filed a plan to recall domestically builtand imported vehicles produced from 2006 through 2012, with modelsincluding the SLK-Class and GLK-Class, the General Administrationof Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said on itswebsite.
The vehicles to be recalled are equipped with airbag inflatorsmade by Japanese manufacturer Takata that could explode and spraypotentially fatal shrapnel inside the car, the administrationsaid.
The recall, which will begin on Oct. 15, follows similar recallsannounced by other car makers including General Motors andHonda.
The companies will replace the airbags free of charge.Enditem
