From:ChinaDaily   |  2018-12-10 02:53

The Fifth China Grand Awards for Industry singled out 12 enterprises and 11 projects on Sunday, in a bid to set up models to drive high-quality development of the nation’s industrial economy.

Approved by the State Council, the award is organized by the China Federation of Industrial Economics and major industrial associations from sectors including coal, machinery, iron and steel, petrochemicals and light industry.

The top prize for China’s industrial sector aims to commend companies and projects with highest industrial development level, and praise their outstanding contribution to enhancing comprehensive national strength.

Li Yizhong, chairman of the China Federation of Industrial Economics, said all the recipients of the China Grand Awards for Industry are representatives that have made great strides during China’s 40 years of reform and opening-up.

“Those winners also reflect some obvious changes in China’s industrial development,” Li added. “First, many winners have transformed followers to innovators in terms of technologies. Second, with the booming development of emerging technologies and the industrial upgrading, progress has been made in the industrial restructuring. Third, private economy continues to grow.”

Among this year’s winners, 41.7 percent of the companies and projects are in the emerging high-tech sector, compared to 20.6 percent in 2016, Li noted.

China Nuclear Power Engineering Co Ltd, solar panel manufacturer Trina Solar, Shaanxi Fenghuo Communication Group Co Ltd, Fuxing bullet trains and Fengyun series meteorological satellites are among the winners of the Fifth China Grand Awards for Industry. Also, 34 other companies and 26 projects were awarded the commendation prize and nomination prize.
