BEIJING - Prices of farm produce in China saw a slight increase last week, data from the Ministry of Commerce showed Tuesday.

From July 27 to Aug 2, the overall price of farm produce went up 0.8 percent on a weekly basis.

In breakdown, the wholesale price of pork eased by 0.5 percent to 48.16 yuan ($6.9) per kg, while the price of beef and mutton edged up 0.1 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively.

Poultry-related products saw prices increase, with the wholesale price of eggs edging up by 11.3 percent week-on-week.

The average wholesale price of 30 types of vegetables went up 2.1 percent from a week earlier, the data showed.

Food accounts for about one-third of China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation.

China's CPI rose 2.5 percent year-on-year in June, the National Bureau of Statistics said.
