North-south waterway connects key areas of Yangtze delta region
From:ChinaDaily   |  2021-04-10 16:00

A waterway running across the nation from the north to the south was launched jointly by Shanghai International Port Group together with Tangshan Port Group and Guangzhou Port Group, the organization said on Saturday.

The water route connects key areas of the Yangtze River Delta region, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Pearl River Delta region, and is expected to further tie up the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and become a strong support for the nation's dual circulation development.

Initiated by the organization, the official launch is an innovative cooperation among major ports in the north and south of China, shedding light on more collaborations among the Chinese ports.

As early as September 2020, the organization and the Tangshan Port Group opened a shipping course between Tangshan in North China's Hebei province and Shanghai. The route has seen a consistent rise of transportation volume and cargo categories in the past six months.

Against the backdrop that domestic and foreign markets can complement each other, the organization vowed to integrate multi-modal logistics solutions into traditional routes to lower logistics costs and optimize ports' business.
