GAC announces new tech, new strategy
From:ChinaDaily   |  2021-04-13 17:39

GAC Group, a leading automobile manufacturer in South China, has released a group of electric power and intelligent-driving technologies, aiming to enhance its competitiveness in a market characterized by new energy and intelligent vehicles.

Along with launching a "neutron star" strategy for battery development, the company announced breakthroughs in supercharge and sponge-like silicon anode technologies on its annual Tech Day, which was held on Friday in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province.

The neutron star strategy, featuring power battery technology, will allow the company to develop self-innovative power batteries and cells of small size but with outsized energy capacity, according to Wu Jian, director of the GAC R&D Center.

"We will improve users' experience of driving new energy vehicles by introducing supercharge and sponge-like silicon anode technologies, which will provide solutions to extending mileage ranges and enabling less time for charging," Wu said.

According to Wu, Aion LX, a SUV model developed by GAC Group with the sponge-like silicon anode technology, has realized an effective range of over 1,000 kilometers.

The company has also released a new generation of its intelligent and Internet driving system, ADiGO, jointly developed by GAC Group and iFLYTEK, an intelligent speech and artificial intelligence company based in Guangzhou.

As of the end of 2020, GAC has invested more than 30 billion yuan ($4.58 billion) in innovation and development, according to Wu.
