Shanghai, October 27- Innovation drives economic upgrading while enterprises form the backbone of economic growth. “Shanghai•Enterprise Innovation and Sustainable Development” Exhibition kicked off this afternoon and will last to November 13.

Xu Wei, vice director of Information Office of Shanghai Municipality, Zhong Xiaomin, vice director of Shanghai Commission of Commerce, Zhu Weimin, vice director of Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, Jing Ying, vice chairman of Shanghai People’s Association for Friendship  with Foreign Countries, Ma Xiaohong, deputy editor-in-chief of Jiefang Daily, Xia Ruirui, standing deputy chief editor of Shanghai Daily, Gao Binxiang, vice president of Eastday.com and representatives from exhibiting enterprises, consulates in Shanghai and China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment attended the opening ceremony.

Xu Wei gave an opening speech and noted that not only the government’s efforts, but also the participation and contribution of both Chinese and foreign enterprises are needed in creating a better city. The exhibition is a good platform for us to get more knowledge of the stories between these excellent enterprises and the city.

Instructed by Shanghai Municipal Information Office, Shanghai Commission of Commerce and Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau, the exhibition is jointly hosted by Jiefang Daily, Shanghai Daily,  Eastday.com and Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, in a bid to showcase some of the best innovative ideas and projects, inviting more people to find out about innovative approaches adopted by these companies in the city.

Wang Lihua, Public Relation Director of Covestro, a exhibiting enterprise, told reporter from Eastday.com that it’s a precious opportunity for them to display high-tech and cutting-edge innovations and applications to the public.

The exhibition coincides with the 28th forum of the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council (IBLAC), which provides a stage for Shanghai to learn from the experiences of renowned business leaders from all over the world to help the city build itself into a global innovation hub. It helps to shed more light on innovation and sustainable development, which is the theme of the exhibition, and also one of the major topics at IBLAC.

According to organizers, through various forms such as city promotional film, interview videos, exhibition areas and interaction zones (VR exhibition area and photo printer), the exhibition can share excellent cases which have won the Innovation & Development- MNCs in Shanghai Best Practice Awards (2015) and Invest in Green Future- CSR Excellence Awards (2016).

Notably, roll up banners, videos, multi-media devices, displays & interactions and other various measures are adopted during the exhibition in order to perfectly show SOEs, MNCs and private enterprises’ contribution to Shanghai’s green and harmonious economic development.

Furthermore, the exhibition also allows the city to promote its target of innovation-driven reform and development, showing a harmonious and green economic growth pattern to the world.
