CHINA will boost the supply-side reform in the coal power industry to cut overcapacity and enhance industrial competitiveness.
China would delay at least 150 gigawatts of coal-fired power projects between 2016 and 2020 and cap coal power generation at 1,100 gigawatts. These measures, under the country’s 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) , will help upgrade China’s energy structure and boost industrial competitiveness, the National Energy Administration said. Cleaner energy such as solar and wind will replace China’s use of coal power.
