BEIJING, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi on Monday met with visiting Director-General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Ahmeet Uzumcu, and the two pledged to enhance cooperation.

Noting that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) coming into force and the founding of the OPCW, Yang said the convention plays an important role in the destruction of chemical weapons and safeguarding world peace and security.
