Former customs officer in Dalian in corruption investigation
From:ChinaDaily   |  2019-01-16 21:05

The Dalian Supervisory Commission in Northeast China's Liaoning province is launching an investigation of Guan Zhaojin, a former local customs officer, on suspicion of corruption and assisting women in smuggling goods overseas in return for their sexual services, Dalian Customs said on Wednesday.

"Guan is suspected of illegal behaviors and has been sent to the supervisory commission for further investigation. We are following clues on corruption involving other customs officers," Dalian Customs said in a statement on Wednesday.

On Jan 5, one netizen claimed a woman accused her husband, a customs officer, of helping 14 females smuggle goods overseas, accepting their bribes and having sexual relationships with them. She shared a video clip, in which her husband, in his shorts, admitted his affairs with other women.

After the scandal was exposed, Dalian Customs attached great importance to the case and issued a statement through its official blog, saying, "As for many online exposed Guan's lifestyle problems, we have decided to suspend his job and are conducting an investigation on him."

According to Dalian Customs, it will strictly review the evidence and publicize the results of its investigation.
