A court in South China's Guangdong province has sentenced to death two drug lords, including a Canadian citizen, for transporting and producing drugs in the first trial of the case on Friday.

The verdict for Ye Jianhui, a Canadian national, and Lu Hanchang was passed by Foshan Intermediate People's Court after a hearing on Friday morning.

Meanwhile all of Ye's and Lu's personal property was confiscated, said the verdict.

And Lu was also deprived of his political rights for life, it said.

Ye has become the second Canadian who was sentenced to death for producing drugs in Guangdong province in two days.

On Thursday, Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court in this Guangdong provincial capital sentenced to death Xu Weihong, a Canadian citizen, for producing drugs in the first trial.

Ye and Lu were accused of colluding with other accomplices to produce and transport drugs between May 2015 and January 2016, according to a report from YangchengEveningNews.

Police seized about 218 kilograms of white crystal, containing MDMA, in the warehouse of the two defendants in a special operation. Meanwhile a police investigation uncovered a total of 9.84 grams of drugs in the bags Lu and his accomplices carried.

Four other defendants in the case were also given sentences between seven years and life in jail.
