1 miner saved, 3 found dead after mine accident in SW China's Guizhou

After nine hours' of rescue efforts, rescuers saved one miner while three others trapped with him were found dead following a mine accident in Southwest China's Guizhou province on Tuesday, People's Daily reported.

The surviving miner has been sent to the hospital and his vital signs are gradually stable.

Emissions of carbon monoxide rose higher than the standard level at the Ruifeng Coal Mine in Dafang county of Bijie at about 3:20 am on Tuesday, leaving four miners trapped.

A total of 47 miners were working underground when the accident occurred; 43 escaped to return above ground safely.

Aftermath disposal work and further investigations of the accident are underway.
