Chengdu
Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, is regarded as the Land of Abundance for its fertile land and abundant products. During the Five Dynasties Period, MengChang, a ruler of later Shu, had numerous hibiscus trees planted on the city wall, so the town became known as the City of Hibiscus. Chengdu is a historical and cultural city with a history of more than 2,000 years. Every year in Chengdu varieties of traditional festivals appeal to the visitors and the locals, namely, the flower show, the yearly opening ceremony of the sluices at the Dujiangyan, the dragon boat races at Xinjing, and the folk-lore sing song contests at Wang-cong Memorial Temple.
