From:Xinhua  |  2018-09-16 10:29

BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- A total of 113 pieces (sets) of ancient paintings are on display at the Palace Museum, honoring four renowned painters from the early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

The painters, best known for their Chinese landscape paintings, were Wang Shimin, Wang Jian, Wang Hui and Wang Yuanqi.

Called the Four Wangs, the painters stressed the imitation of ancient and classical styles and techniques, said Shan Jixiang, curator of the museum.

"Their artistic styles became orthodox in landscape painting back then, and left a far-reaching influence on the landscape painting in Qing Dynasty," Shan said.

The Palace Museum is home to about 800 pieces (sets) of works by the Four Wangs.

The exhibition, hosted at the Hall of Literary Brilliance, will last until Oct. 30.
