KIEV, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- A cultural event entitled "Unusual Journey to China," which was organized by the Kiev city government and devoted to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, took place in one of the central Kiev parks in the capital of Ukraine on Saturday.

The event began with a grand opening of landscape composition "Vivid China", featuring Chinese architecture and crop production. Also in the park, an exhibition of drawings "China through the eyes of the children of Ukraine" was organized. Pupils of an art school in Kiev presented their works.

The organizers set up several places in the park where children could learn about the culture and life of China in an entertaining way. Everyone could learn the basics of calligraphy, and the art of painting masks for Chinese opera.

"Such events contribute to our great friendship. They lay the foundation and teach children the basic knowledge of Chinese culture, get them interested in it and teach them to love it," said the deputy head of the Kiev City government Petro Panteleev after visiting the event.
