From:chinadaily  |  2019-12-12 13:49

A seminar on the cultural exchanges between China and Bulgaria, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, was held here on Wednesday.

Some 50 experts attended the nearly four-hour event hosted by Confucius Institute in Sofia, during which book publishing contracts were signed by China's Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press and Bulgaria's East-West and Bulgarian Bestseller. Newly published books about China were presented.

Meanwhile, thematic reports on the development of Chinese-Bulgarian cultural relations since 1978, and on Chinese literature in Bulgaria and vice versa, were presented by Bulgarian professor Nako Stefanov and Chen Ying from Beijing Foreign Studies University, respectively.

A congratulatory address on behalf of Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, which was read at the beginning of the event, said that Bulgarian-Chinese relations enjoy sustainable positive dynamics, active exchanges at all levels, mutual trust and goodwill.

Radev said in the address that he was confident that concrete results in the areas such as trade, investment, science, technology, education, tourism and culture would be achieved in the foreseeable future.

Yan Jianqun, political counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria, said the seminar was held within the Sofia International Book Fair, and would contribute to the practical cooperation in book publishing.
