By:Zheng Qian  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2019-06-17 09:25

An exhibition of shipwrecked treasures was unveiled in the China Maritime Museum in Shanghai on June 14.

The Out to the World: Treasures from Wan Reef I Shipwreck exhibition showcases 199 pieces or sets of the mostly porcelain treasures which date from the Kangxi period (1661-1722) of the Qing dynasty.

The exhibits are among more than 17,000 pieces of Jingdezhen porcelain in a variety of shapes and decorative types which have been recovered from a shipwreck ruin find in Fuzhou, Fujian province, in 2005, and the pieces embody the peak of Chinese civilian porcelain in the early Qing dynasty.

Jointly presented by the Shanghai museum and the Fuzhou Museum, the over-two-month exhibition, holding high historical, scientific, cultural and artistic value, is the largest ever among the “Wan Reef I shipwreck” exhibition series held in other cities in terms of the number of relics.

Besides the exhibition, related forums and educational activities will also be arranged to comprehensively interpret ware history and cultural exchanges to audiences.
