An original French musical based on Victor Hugo's novel Notre Dame De Paris is to play 30 consecutive performances at SAIC-Shanghai Culture Square in Shanghai from July 18th. It has been 16 years since the show was first staged in China, thus its return has aroused high expectation.

Since the original French musical Notre Dame De Paris premiered in the Palais des Congrès on September 16, 1998, it has been performed more than 5000 times around the world and many versions such as English, Spanish and Italian have also been developed.

The 20th anniversary tour is to be performed by an international lineup, including Italian actor Angelo Del Vecchio, who played Quasimodo in the Italian and English versions of the play and is the only actor who has played Quasimodo in three languages and two famous Canadian actors, Daniel Lavoie and Marion Robel, who will aternately perform the central character of the bishop Claude Frollo. Daniel Lavoie was in the original version, while Marion Robel starred in the French version of Les Misérables.

The namesake musical was based on the novel by Victor Hugo and is now of special significance after Notre Dame Cathedral unexpectedly caught fire a few months ago.

It was revealed that tickets for the first two rounds of the original French musical were sold out on the opening day. Many art events related to the play are packed as well.
