Chedun Film Park to be expanded
By:Wu Qiong  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2019-08-05 09:23

One of the greatest film making bases in China, the Shanghai Chedun Film Park, launched its second-phase of construction on August 2, so as to play a bigger role in the building of the Shanghai High-tech Film Base.

With a planned size of 170,000 square meters, the expanded film park will include a 3,000-square-meter high-tech film studio. By the end of this year, reproductions of Shanghai landmarks like the Baxian Bridge and the commercial block around the famed Wukang Building will kick off construction. Starting from May to December 2021, the original six traditional film studios will be upgraded with high-tech filmmaking techniques like pre-visualization, digital set-ups, digital assets and virtual shooting.

Also known as the Shanghai Chedun Film Shooting Base, the park founded in 1990s in Songjiang is one of China’s earliest movie studios. Since its opening in 1999, more than 3400 movies and 900 TV series have been filmed here. As a 4A-class tourist spot, it has received over 10 million visitors.
