Disney releases new rules on outside food
By:Fu Yifei, Wu Qiong  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2019-09-17 10:14

To overturn the controversial ban on outside food, Shanghai Disney Resort rolled out new rules on food and drinks, which came into effect on September 11.

Visitors are now allowed to bring in food. However, all food must be in proper containers, cannot be cooked, reheated or prepared on-site and it must be consumed by the guest. Food with pungent smells, such as durian and stinky tofu, are still banned.

The new food policy is a response to the recent public debates over the previous no-outside-food rule and screening procedures upon entrance.

Meanwhile, the resort said it will continue to expand the variety of food inside the park. Guests are also encouraged to use the drinking water fountains and hot water dispensers in the park for free. But alcoholic beverages, cans and glassware will still be denied access, while bottled beverages will be allowed. For those tourists who need to deposit their personal belongings that are banned in the park, the resort has launched a daily deposit service at 10 yuan per piece.

Visitors can enjoy their own food and drinks in the designated picnic area of the park, but they need to abide by the garbage classification criteria and jointly maintain a clean and tidy environment in the park.

The resort also pledged to change its security screening procedures, through notifications ahead of ticket purchases via all sales platforms and a friendlier and less intrusive screening process. Guests will be encouraged to open their bags by themselves for security check at the entrance.
