The first phase of the Shanghai Citizens’ Sports Park, namely the football park, has completed construction. Covering an area of 420,000 square meters, the park, which is scheduled to open on January 1, 2020, has eighteen 11-a-side football fields, 32 5-a-side football fields and 25 basketball courts.

It is worth mentioning that the name of the football park was inscribed by a 14-year-old student from the Jiading District Middle School, who is not only good at calligraphy, but also sports. The inscription by a teenager indicates the park’s faith in servicing the public.

Aiming to be a multi-functional sports platform, the Citizens’ Sports Park is currently working with the city’s Sports Bureau to jointly formulate plans to hold national fitness sports events and youth competitions in the football park in 2020.

Located in Anting Town of Jiading District, the 2.8 square kilometer Citizens’ Sports Park enjoys a unique location advantage being inside the Shanghai International Sports Center area, which also includes the Shanghai International Circuit. This area will be built into a strategic base for the development of Shanghai’s sports industry and also an international first-class sports and cultural exchange center.
