Wang Yi went abroad in 2005 for his PhD program. In his last year at the University of Princeton, he made up his mind to start up his own business back in China. Afterwards, he gave up his Google product manager job and founded LAIX Inc., popularizing English learning in China via AI technology. As he said, “We want the world to embrace ‘Export from China’. That was why we announced an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange. From the very beginning, we wanted to bring Chinese original technology and products to the world.”
