Female soldiers marched through Tian’anmen Square on October 1st, as part of the National Day military parade in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The foot formation was led by two major generals: Chen Xiaojian and Tang Bing, making them the first female generals to appear in the National Day military parade.

With firm steps, 352 servicewomen in total participated in the parade, welding guns.

At an average age of 24, they were selected by the Bethune Medical Officer School of the Third Military Medical University and come from different sectors and combat positions, including pilots, warship crew, snipers and missile launchers.

Founded on September 18, 1939, the Bethune Medical Officer School was initiated by Canadian doctor Norman Bethune, who gave his life for the cause of the Chinese people’s liberation and was deemed China’s hero and friend.
