On the “Best Employers: China 2019” report announced by Aon Hewitt - the global talent, retirement and health solutions business of Aon plc - Starbucks (China) Company, which has 55,000 staff members, won the heavyweight award of “Best Employer” for the fifth time in a row.

Aon Hewitt’s Best Employers study was first conducted in Asia in 2001. The purpose of the study is to gain insights into companies that are creating real competitive advantage through their people, to explore what makes a workplace of choice and to identify the best employers in the region.

This year, the Starbucks company was recognized as the Best Employer with its excellent performance in three dimensions: employee engagement, organizational agility and effective leadership.

At Starbucks, every staff member is considered to be a most precious asset and the cornerstone of the company's success. Therefore, Starbucks is committed to creating the warmest home for every employee.

Starbucks has always been dedicated to creating a warm and belonging “home culture” for every staff member and constantly investing in the professional and personal development of the staff. It has launched many welfare policies like the “Parental Care Program”, partner and children’s health insurance program and also Bean Stock Program.

This year, Starbucks opened its first sign language store in China. In this “quietest” store, the deaf baristas work with hearing baristas to create a consistently high-quality Starbucks experience for the customer. For the customers with hearing disabilities, the store has become a great place to relax and socialise. Moreover, this year, Starbucks has realized 100% gender equality in pay.

“For me, the most attractive thing about Starbucks is the diverse and open working environment. I have not only met my friends from all over the country here, but also realized my dreams. Starbucks has changed my life path by cultivating an innocent young man to be one of the few coffee roasters,” said Michael Lua, a post-90s generation man working for the Starbucks Reserve Shanghai Roastery.
