Pancake beauty goes viral on Douyin
By:Wu Qiong  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2019-11-28 10:12

In a vegetable market in Shanghai’s Baoshan district, a 22-year-old girl selling pancakes went viral after her video was posted by people online. Looking pretty and wearing no makeup, she has been nicknamed “pancake beauty” by netizens.

Her video of making and selling pancakes was posted on the short-video app “Douyin” by a local customer. Since it went viral, many people living nearby have been attracted to her pancake shop.

People spotted the likeness between her and some Chinese celebrities such as Li Landi and Dilraba. Feeling grateful for the netizens’ praise, the girl said she had worked at the family shop for almost two years.

Every morning she has to get up early and begins work at 5:30am. Working until noon, she makes 200 to 300 pancakes every day. The shop’s pancake, developed by the girl and her father, is crispy, and the skin is thinner.

“Many say that good-looking people are good at nothing, but I don’t think so. Looking good is nothing to be proud of, as you still have to rely on your own hard work,” said the girl.

Commenting on her instant fame and popularity on Douyin, she just said, “I hope people will not regard it as a publicity stunt (for my shop).” She also vowed to work harder to expand her family’s pancake business.
