Famous paintings by world famous artists have a deep and lasting charm, but sometimes are hard to understand. In terms of how to help pupils appreciate and have a better understanding of famous paintings, Yangpu Erlian Primary School has set a feasible example.
As one part of an arts festival, an imitation of famous portrait paintings was launched in the school. By choosing matching backgrounds, props and makeup to mimic the subjects in the paintings, students expressed their understanding of the classics in a creative way.
“We hope to realize aesthetic education through various forms and meanwhile improve children’s creativity. Such an interesting educational method can have a deep influence, ” said Chang Jie, a teacher who was the planner of the imitation form.
