100 Shanghai students have been selected to go to the final round of selection in Beijing to be 2020 winter Olympics reporters. Last night an awards ceremony was held to congratulate them.

The selection competition was launched around China in May last year and has attracted 1.1 million teenage participants, causing a sensation among primary and middle school students and their parents.

Initiated in August, the Shanghai competition, which had three rounds of selection, was undertaken by SMG Oriental Broadcasting Center to assess competitors’ bilingual ability, on-site response and self-expression ability.

The 100 winners will go to Beijing for a national final to be held in February 2020. Those who come out on top will work in the 2022 Winter Olympics Press Center and report on the 2022 Winter Olympics.
