The English version of the world’s first anti-COVID-19 diary by a doctor fighting on the front line began its presale on Amazon'swebsite.

Written by Zha Qiongfang, a doctor from Shanghai Renji Hospital, Dr. Zha’s diary of fighting COVID-19 tells the female doctor’s 68-day experience of supporting Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak in China, in combating the outbreak. It not only reveals the encouragement and self-sacrifice of Chinese doctors and the general public, but also conveys how China rapidly controlled the disease.

Due to the great spirit it expresses, the book has been listed as one of “China’s excellent books in April”by the Chinese Book Review Society. According to Li Dan, assistant president of Shanghai Jiaotong University Press, after the Chinese version of the book was published on April 20, many well-known international publishing organizations contacted him for cooperation. The copyright of the Vietnamese, Thai, and Hindi versions have been exported, and the copyright export of the Japanese and Russian versions are under negotiation.

The English version was finally authorized to the Naturalogic Publishing Company, a leading academic publisher. “The diary tells us that all humankind must unite to control the spread of the virus. We should learn from Chinese cooperation, courage and enthusiasm to make an effort to overcome the epidemic,”said Peter Gaviorno, president of the British publisher.

For Ye Xingguo, a famous translator and chairman of the Shanghai International Studies Association who finished the diary’s English translation, the translation process is a process of learning and “spiritual baptism”. “Chinese anti-epidemic stories are quite moving, and it is our duty to translate them to the world,” said Professor Ye.
