2020 Shanghai Book Fair, themed at “Love Reading, Love Life”, will be held at the Shanghai Exhibition Center from Aug 12-18. Due to the epidemic, this year’s fair will ensure safety of visitors through a series of protective measures.

Xinhua Media, in charge of theme pavilions of the fair, will set up a sanitation station with various types of precaution. During the book fair, visitors will have to register with their real names and identity cards. Before they enter the venue, they need show their health codes and get their temperatures checked. Jiangli, deputy general manager of Xinhua Media, said that in case of any health emergency, there are medical staffs on the site.

For the impact of the epidemic, the book fair will hold various online events, in cooperation with the media, livestreaming platforms and podcast apps, for people who can’t come to the spot. Offline events are scheduled to broadcast live on the online platform. Over 150 new books from publishers all over the country will have their debuts online and about 100 guests are expected to share their recommended list of reading.

Furthermore, a variety of publishers are coming to the fair, bringing latest books and best sellers. Shanghai Century Publishing Group, a publication giant, will introduce nearly 10,000 books to the public and organize around 300 reading activities both offline and online, with more than 500 authors invited to share their experience in writing.

As SHINE reported, tickets for the book fair have already been on sale from Thursday at 12 Xinhua Bookstore outlets across the city and e-tickets will be available online from Friday. Bearing in mind the restrictions on the number of people, the number of tickers will also be limited. For security reasons, there will be no paper tickets sold on the site and residents can only buy tickets online or book tickets in advance.
