Foreign talent will have easier access to the Shanghai job market, based on a new policy on introducing foreign technology experts to Shanghai.

Restrictions on age, educational qualifications and work experience will be loosened for foreign scientific and technological talent, innovative and entrepreneurial talent and those with high skills.

For foreign talent employed by institutions that undertake key projects, a one-time work permit for at least 2 years will be given.

For those engaged in science and technology, there is no need to re-apply or change work permits if they begin to apply for other companies while still working for the original one or start their own businesses.

Foreign researchers undertaking Chinese national projects and fresh doctoral graduates in key disciplines such as science, engineering, agriculture and medicine, can apply for a foreign talent visa with a validity period of up to 10 years.
