Chinese Medicine "Lianhua Qingwen” capsules registered in Kenya
By:Zheng Qian  |  From:english.eastday.com  |  2021-03-15 16:05

Lianhua Qingwen capsules, an innovative patented traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) produced by China’s Yiling Pharmaceutical, has been successfully registered with the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board, marking the first TCM product that has been registered in the country.

Having been proven effective in the treatment of novel coronavirus, Lianhua Qingwen has captured more and more recognition from countries overseas. Yiling Pharmaceutical has registered the drug in an increasing number of countries to make it available to more people.

“The registration in Kenya means that we can sell Lianhua Qingwen as a drug in the country, which I believe will play an important role in Kenya’s anti-pandemic fight,” said Gao Yanchang, sales director of Yiling Pharmaceutical International Trade Center. In his view, the success in Kenya is a big step forward in the drug’s access to other East African Community countries.

According to Li Changhong, managing director of Kenya J&K Investment Company, drug registration in Kenya usually takes two to three years but Lianhua Qingwen’s registration only took six months due to the support of the Hongqiao Overseas Chinese Business Association Expo and Trade Promotion Center as well as the Kenya Shanghai Chamber of Commerce.

Li, who is also president of the Kenya Shanghai Chamber of Commerce, said that besides drugs, more products with Chinese characteristics will be introduced to Kenya in the future.
