A labor course launched by Shanghai Jiaotong University has been warmly welcomed by the students.

Based on Horticulture and Food Science and Engineering, the school has formed two labor education modules respectively for grape and wine production and tomato planting and dried fruit production. Students can have a full-chain labor experience from planting to production and processing.

All the first-year undergraduate students should select the course. Under the guidance of teachers and professional workers, they will design the planting schemes by themselves and will complete all the production processes starting from plowing the soil.

Before the on-site practice on the field, a theoretical course conducted by the College of Agriculture and Biology taught students the basic knowledge of the structure, cultivation methods and mature process of different varieties of tomatoes.

An achievements exhibition will be held in autumn when the fruits are harvested.
