THE Urban Ecology and Energy Conservation Forum was held at Tongji University.

The forum was supported by UN Environment, and was given a theme of soil ecology environmental assessment and remediation this year. It served as an online and offline platform for academic exchange, featuring speeches and discussion session by experts, as well as online communication.

During the forum, Director of Soil Science Society of China Luo Yongming introduced studies and trends analysis on soil pollution and remediation in China. Professor Li Fengting, Deputy Dean of UN Environment – Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development, talked about soil cleaning and heavy metal reclamation.

China started its soil protection work about two decades ago. Heavy metal has been the major pollutant of China’s soil environment.
