RESIDENTS are devoting more time on leisure and cultural activities — with more than 60 percent of them doing so for over three hours a week.
A report released yesterday said the number of people who say they barely have time for leisure and cultural activities has declined for three straight years. Meanwhile, those spending more than seven hours on cultural and leisure activities saw a sharp increase, up about 10 percent on 2016.
The report, which surveyed 2,079 people, was released by Institute of Sociology of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.
Parks and public greeneries remain the most favorite leisure venues, followed by cultural plazas, community cultural centers and cinemas. About 90 percent said the city’s public cultural venues met their needs.
Nearly 60 percent of people surveyed considered cultural and leisure services in commercial venues too expansive, up 7.5 percent on last year.
