Smile: It’s red-light camera time
From:Shanghai Daily  |  2017-08-03 02:29

POLICE cameras filming pedestrians who ignore red lights have been installed at three more crossroads in downtown Shanghai.

They are the crossroads of Huaihai Road M. and Chengdu Road S., Huaihai Road M. and Xiangyang Road S. and Nanjing Road W. and Changde Road.

Since the end of May, 27 offenders have been punished after being caught with the first such cameras which were installed at the crossroads of Gonghexin Road and Yongxing Road in Jing’an District, Shanghai traffic police said yesterday.

They were fined 20 yuan (US$3) for each offense.

Police said they’re trying to contact every offender who is identifiable from the cameras, but a few among the 27 have come to the police on their own after seeing pictures of themselves at the bus stop near the crossroads.
