A deliveryman has been detained for allegedly stealing packages from delivery stations and fellow workers, Shanghai police said on Wednesday.

The packages he allegedly stole after the Singles Day shopping spree last year were worth at least 80,000 yuan (US$13,000), police said.

Police in Xuhui District received reports of thefts at package delivery stations on Luochengand Longwuroads in the middle of November. The stolen objects included 30 mobile phones and iPads.

A month later a deliveryman reported to the police at Lingyun Road Police Station that his e-bike loaded with packages were missing after he went to deliver a package in a high-rise residential complex.

The theft was caught on surveillance camera, and the suspect, a man surnamed Fan, was later tracked down by the police.
