The early days of the Chinese New Year next week is expected to be bright and warm, starting from Tuesday.

However, the weather forecasters are predictingdrizzles this weekend on Friday and Saturday.

The mercury will hover between2 and 11 degrees Celsius. We will be able to see the sun again on Sunday, but it will be chilled because of a cold front with the lowest temperature falling to zero degrees, forecasters said.

From Tuesday, the temperature will begin to rise with the low returning to 2 degrees and the high reaching 13 degrees. Residents arelikely to have a warm Spring Festival holiday, from February 15 to 21, according to Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

This year, authorities have already announced eight yellow frost alerts, second of the three-colored system. For five consecutive days from last Saturday, downtown Xujiahui area has recorded temperature lower than zero degrees, with the coldest day on last Sunday when the low reached minus 2.1 degrees. On Thursday, the low recorded in Xujiahui climbed to 0.7 degrees.
