It's spring but keep the sweaters
From:Shine  |  2018-03-16 00:29

Spring is officially here but the cold days are not over yet.

Shanghai Meteorological Bureau said yesterday the city had recorded five days of daily average temperatures higher than 10 degrees Celsius, marking the end of the 96-day winter last Sunday.

Tuesday was the warmest day this year with the temperature reaching 18.4 degrees Celsius. Baoshan District recorded a high of 25.6 degrees.

On an average, Shanghai’s winter lasts for 106 days and the city usually enters spring on March 17. Since 2008, the earliest arrival of spring was on February 9, 2016.

But it is not time yet to pack away the coats and jackets. A cold front yesterday forced the weather authorities to issue a blue gale warning alert at 4:49pm. The forecast for today remains cloudy with the temperature hovering between 9 and 11 degrees. It will rise to 14 degrees over the weekend.
