British 'landscapes of the mind' to be exhibited at Shanghai Museum

“Landscape of the Mind: Masterpieces from Tate Britain (1700-1980)” featuring nearly 70 British landscape paintingswill be unveiled at the Shanghai Museum on April 26.

Ranging from oils, watercolors, sketches to print and photography, the exhibition is a retrospective of 300 years of development in British landscape art.

Exhibition curator Richard Humphreyssaid itwill start from the classical painters of the 18th century and the romanticism of the 19th century to the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, impressionism and the avant-garde modernism of the 20th century, featuringworks by major artists including J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851).

The exhibition, which will run through August 5, not only tries to explore the natural scenes, but also the relationship between man and nature.
