'Red passports' given to army soldiers

"Red passports" with free admission to 22 venues including martyrs' facilities, patriotic education bases and important spots in Shanghai's urban development and history, were distributed to army soldiers in Shanghai at the Longhua Martyrs' Cemetery in Xuhui District today.

The passport, issued by the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau, allows entry to such venues as Shanghai Lu Xun Museum, Soong Ching-ling Mausoleum, Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, Chen Yun Memorial, and the site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

People from the Shanghai Party History Association of the Communist Party of China, Shanghai Film Association, Shanghai Cancer Recovery Club and Shanghai Public Security Bureau attended the ceremony.

Poems about the history of Yuyangli, a former residential complex on Huaihai Road where the Chinese Communist Youth League was founded in 1920, as well as the New Fourth Army, were read out.

Members of the Shanghai Cancer Recovery Club read poems they wrote in memory of their departed fellows, and a volunteer team on life education was also established during the ceremony.
