Dozens of delivery restaurants closed over 'irregularities'
From:Shine  |  2018-04-16 15:29

More than 30 restaurants listed on online food delivery platforms including Ele.me, Meituan and Baidu Waimai were closed after they were found to be in breach of industry regulations, the city's food safety watchdog said.

Irregularities discovered at these 35 eateries included operating without a license or falsifying a license, the Shanghai Food and Drug Administration said.

On the list were the unlicensedMangguofang dessert eatery on Zhijiang Rd M., listed on Baidu Waimai, and the Jinyun Road outlet of Haodada chicken steak on Meituan.

For Ele.me,Xiaojiang seafood barbecue on Hongmei Rd S. was found to be using a fake license, while Tianxiang malatang (a Sichuan-style meat and vegetable soup) was operating beyond scope because it was only permitted to sell pre-packaged food.

The administration has ordered rectification of these issues immediately or face a fine, and noted that irregularities will be recorded in the city’s food safety credit file.

Those who fabricate licenses or use others' licenses will be blacklisted and banned from operation in the industry, according to the administration.
