Nearly one-third of children's products sold on 13 online shopping sites failed quality tests, including some made by Shanghai companies, according to China's top market watchdog.

They includeseven types of goods such as shoes, clothing, toys, roller skates, and baby straps. In total, there were 116 batches of substandard goods, accounting for 28.9 percent, according to the State Administration for Market Regulation.

Two batches of folding toy scooters labeled "Disney" and sold on yhd.com were on the list for a number of reasons, including the strength of their handles.

A batch of baby straps branded "babycare" sold on yhd.com were found to be substandard over their pH index, which can cause skin allergies, particularly among children, said the Shanghai Administration for Industry and Commerce, which conducted tests on three types of children's goods in the campaign, namely baby straps, toy scooters and roller skates.

A batch of hipseat baby carriers labeled "Disney" and sold on yhd.com failed because of substandard materials.

Some shoes labeled "Jeep" and sold by Shanghai MGM children's clothing flagship store on dangdang.com failed for added plasticizer.

Roller skates branded Enpex, sold on yhd.com and made by a Shanghai sportscompany, failed over their brakes, which could lead to injuries through falling, according to the administration.
