Shanghai's railway stations ready for Dragon Boat Festival rush
From:Shine  |  2018-06-11 19:29

About 1.59 million people will leave town by train during the Dragon Boat Festival break from June 15 to 18, 5 percent more than the some period last year, Shanghai Railway Station announced.

The three major railway stations – Shanghai Railway Station, Shanghai South Railway Station and Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station – will open 40 extra ticket windows for passengers purchasing tickets.

The railway station said the majority of passengers will holiday to or visit friends in neighbouring provinces like Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Jiangxi and Anhui.

In order to better facilitate passengers on leave, 75 extra trains going to those provinces will be added into service during the break.

During the break, passengers at Hongqiao Railway Station or Shanghai Railway Station can go to the Leifeng service center to join volunteers makingzongzi and mini dragon boats to celebrate the traditional Chinese festival.

Meanwhile, with Father’s Day falling on June 17, Shanghai's railway stations will offer free postcards to passengers who want to send a message to their fathers.
