The Oriental Pearl TV Tower unveiled a new interactive and immersive entertainment project called "Landmark Paradise · Global Magic Travel" on Friday, taking tourists into a magic world of light and shadows.

The landmark Oriental Pearl TV Tower unveiled a new interactive and immersive entertainment project called "Landmark Paradise · Global Magic Travel" on Friday, taking tourists into a magic world of light and shadows.

The art show merges 3D mapping stereographic projection technology, infrared technology, virtual reality technology and interactive multimedia installations to take visitors on an unexpected journey around the world.

The paradise features 20 interactive and multimedia installations.

A display called "Easter Island Moai" applies face scanning and facial expression recognition technologies, allowing stone statues to follow the facial expressions of tourists.

One interactive work known as "Tour of Tahiti" invites visitors to experience the tropical flavor of the island via VR technology, while "Capital of Color" gathers landmark spots across the globe and creates a brilliant colorful world of light using a front-projected holographic display, architecture facade projection technology, and LEDs.

Another display called "Easter Island Moai" applies face scanning and facial expression recognition technologies, allowing stone statues to follow the facial expressions of tourists and change expressions.

"Switzerland Skiing" captures the body motions of visitors through somatosensory devices and takes them on a thrilling journey on the slopes of snowy mountains in Switzerland.

Meanwhile, "City Jump" simulates a unique experience overlooking cities like Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai and New York via LED screens on the ground, while the "Shanghai Magic Tour" takes visitors flying across Lujiazui, above Huangpu River and through shikumen (stone-gated) buildings to experience the most authentic flavor of Shanghai.

The showcase will run through October 7 at the zero-meter hall of the tower. Admission is 120 yuan (US$18.50) per adult, or a discounted price of 80 yuan through the officialWeChat account of the tower.
