Hot, rainy days ahead
From:Shine  |  2018-06-25 02:29

Humid and hot days are forecast for the coming week.

Monday will be cloudy, with scattered afternoon thunderstorms. The mercury could reach 33 degrees, according to the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

Tuesday will bring a break from the rain, and a high temperature of 36 degrees. The high will hover around 35 degrees on Wednesday, with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected in the afternoon.

Along with rising temperatures, residents should brace for light to moderate ozone pollution on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the city’s environmental monitoring center.

The heat will subside on Thursday and Friday, when highs of 31 and 32 degrees are predicted.

As subtropical heat moves eastwards on Thursday the plum rains may return to the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, bringing heavier rains to the city over the weekend, weather officials say.

This year the annual plum rain reason arrived on June 19. The period is forecast to be shorter than usual, meaning less rain for the region.
