From:Shine  |  2018-07-15 14:29

The Club Pachuca Team from Mexico won the champion in the China (Shanghai) International Youth Football Invitational 2018 in Saturday evening after beating at 5:2 the ASEC Mimosas youth academy squad from Cote d'Ivoire in the final.

Also on Saturday, the Matlock Town Football Club team from the UK beat the Melbourne City College of Football team from Australia in the semi-final to win the third place of the competition.

The event was first launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Education, All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the Shanghai Government. It has attracted 44 male youth school football teams from 16 countries and regions over the past three years, building friendships while exchanging skills and techniques through football competitions. It is also expected to promote campus football in China.

This year’s competition has 16 men’s U17 school football teams from 10 countries and regions. A forum about campus football development was also held during the event.

Weng Tiehui, vice mayor of Shanghai, presented the champion medals to the Mexican team after the match in Saturday evening.

During the breaks of the week-long competition, the young members of the football teams also experienced Chinese cultures, such as Chinese calligraphy, porcelain painting and Tai Chi.
