The "future office" unveiled on Wednesday in Yangpu District features a "sharing hall" at the entrance where white-collars of different industries can meet and socialize with each other.

A "future office" was unveiled in Yangpu District on Wednesday as part of a project to offer a futuristic look into a street in an old downtown community.

The street, which is named NICE2035 Livingline and translates into Neighborhood of Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship toward 2035, gives residents a chance to explore and experience unique restaurants, an office, and entertainment venues that were built with new materials and technologies, including robots and artificial intelligence.

The newly unveiled office building features a "sharing hall" at the entrance, where white-collars of different industries can meet and socialize with each other. Office workers can sit on a cycling machine to work and exercise at the same time. The office space can also be divided and combined easily.

"The future office should connect industrial chains and promote creative ideas," said Lou Yongqi, the dean of the College of Design and Innovation of Tongji University that is developing the office with Go High Fund and Hi Work.
