Achievements of China’s intangible cultural heritage went on show on July 19 at Shanghai Great World, also known as Dashijie.

Prior to Shanghai, the exhibition was held in Beijing, receiving acclaim from visitors and scholars alike.

All the 312 artworks on display were designed and made by the city’s university students.

Ever since 2015, professionals have given workshops at the city’s major universities including Shanghai University, East China Normal University and Tongji University to preserve these traditional arts.

The works cover a wide range of genres such as stone carving, embroidery, puppetry and porcelain.

Based on traditional craftsmanship, some items also boast fashionable elements to cater to contemporary tastes. Patterns and colors of traditional Chinese paintings are blended with costumes and accessories.

Officials from East China Normal University said that they will present workshops about traditional Chinese festivals and tea-making techniques in the future.

This time students from East China Normal University brought their glass and seal works, which is an art formpopular in Chinese mythology.

Fu Haixian, a major inheritor of traditional Chinese seal-making, also helped students make seals on their own.
