From:Shine  |  2018-08-17 02:29

The annual week-long Shanghai Book Fair opened on Wednesday with a publishing deal signed between different governments of the Yangtze River Delta, the local press and publication authority said.

The deal, signed by Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui provinces and Shanghai at Shanghai's Exhibition Center, will deepen cooperation in publishing, public cultural services and communication.

Every year there will be a Yangtze River Delta press and publication summit and the four areas will take turns to hold the summit.

The four areas have decided on six cooperation programs this year, including jointly publishing a book series on the culture of Jiangnan, hosting a joint exhibition on the four areas' books and creating a Yangtze River Delta "reading circle."

The four areas will also cooperate in the creation of digital publishing products like online games and literature, copyright protection and public reading promotion.

Zhou Huilin, director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Committee, said the Yangtze River Delta is one of the areas in the country with the most advanced publishing industry.

Chen Ye, head of theAnhui Province Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television Bureau, said at the ceremony that Anhui is rich in cultural resources. As a newcomer to the Yangtze River Delta alliance, Anhui will promote its "superior resources" and featured brands and cooperate with the other three areas.

Meanwhile, a new exhibition about award-winning book designs from home and abroad was unveiled at the Shanghai Book Fair.

The launch of commemorative events on Shanghai Book City's 20th anniversary was also held at the book fair, with the release of its best seller ranking list of the past two decades and a preview of future events, including a Shanghai Book City-related exhibition.
