Sailing into new spirit of success
From:Shanghai Daily  |  2018-08-24 02:29

SOME 40 unemployed young people had an inspirational trip the COMAC factory in the Pudong New Area on Wednesday.

Organized by the city employment center, the trip is part of its “Sailing” campaign to improve job hunting skills and inspire 8,000 young people to greater success in the job market.

Guided by the head of the COMAC human resource Lu Bin, the group, some out of work for more than one year, had a glimpse of how China’s first civil aircraft is assembled.

“What we value here is the spirit of craftsmanship,” said Lu.

“That means diving into every detail of the process and doing your best.”

Shen Hao from the employment center said that was exactly what people looking for jobs needed.

Zhang Wenbin, 26, who speaks good English, worked in customer service at UPS but failed to make it through his probation, so turned to vocational training for help.

Su Qi of Shanghai Bavarian Vocational Training, told Shanghai Daily that Zhang was quite anxious.

“Moreover, he was afraid of the workplace. Staying at home too long wears people out. People become lazy and timid.”

Another problem lies with over-protection. Shen Hao said many parents spoiled their children and did not let them do physical jobs or work overtime.

The center has planned more trips to enterprises like JD.com and Alibaba.
